Cooktop shorts out - bad design

We installed this cooktop in our mountain home as part of a total KitchenAid package. Very bad decision. On the plus side, it is spacious and has a high power burner in the center that allows you to place pots on all the burners. The bad news: Depsite several service calls, It often starts clicking after you turn on a burner and the gas flame will go out, and when I try to use more than two burners it shuts down and the control lock goes on. I'm currently calling for service for the third time and have only used this cooktop about 15 times. I highly recommend the KitchenAid dishwasher but avoid the refrigerator (poor design with a flap that gets in the way every time you open it, and beeps all the time if you leave door open to load groceries) noisy microwave - the fan stays on after you use it and it has a messy pull down design rather than push button side opening - result is handprints all over the stainlesss. The ovens also have poor fan control and stay on noisly for an hour after use - and miserable dysfunctional cooktop, these products are noisy, poorly designed and cheaply made. I'm going to replace the cooktop.

36" 5-Burner Gas Cooktop

We recently renovated our 1970's kitchen, and this cooktop helped our antiquated space take on the attributes of the current century. After having an electric cook-top for the past 35 years, I was skepical about the tje efficency and ease of cleaning, but I have to say that I have fallen intantly in love with my new cook-top. It's easy to clean, gives me plenty of control...I don't have to wait until the burner cools down, and I can use my beloved cast-iron frying pans without the fear of scratching the surface.

This stove was new for my redesigned kitchen. It is gorgeous! It works great and the middle burner is my favorite for simmering soups and sauces. It cleans easily and is not too small for pots and pans like a lot of the other models I looked at. I love it!

This is an amazing cooktop. It cooks everything at an even temp. Water boils quickly on center burner. Eggs cook up perfectly. It's not only pretty but it works like a charm. I am extremely satisfied with this.

This is the first gas cooktop I have ever owned and I am still getting used to cooking with gas, but overall I love my new cooktop. The only downside to this product is keeping it looking like new. While the glass vs. ceramic is suppose to be easier to keep clean and burnt on spills are supposed to clean up easily, the glass ALWAYS looks streaky. Drives me crazy!! I have been trying many different suggestions and products, and so far have not had much luck. This is why I only gave this product 4 stars. Kitchen Aide, if you have a miraculous product, please share it!!

Had the stove top installed last week and am really impressed with the new features. So much more heat control over our previous stove. Each of the 5 burners can be set at many different heat making cooking so much easier. The ease of cleaning is a much added bonus too.

We love this cook top - we bought this wall unit to replace an older unit and upgraded from a 30" to a 36". It looks nice and works great. The larger middle burner is a nice plus for quick boiling of water.

Hard to keep clean

It's hard to keep this cooktop clean, and when you do clean it properly, it takes 15-20 minutes to remove and wash all the burner parts, grates, and knobs. The sticky label that was on it was so hard to remove that I scratched the surface trying to get it off. also, none of the burners have completely even flames, even though the booklet says they should. The cooktop wasn't installed completely level, but that's not your fault. However, all that aside, I love cooking with gas. The range of burner options is nice, seems to be effective for all kinds of cooking.

I really like this range it is beautiful and easy to clean. My only complaint is the grill part, a piece has already broken off, it seems to be wearing down and chipping away. Perhaps the grill cannot sustain the heat from the burners. Now I am on the hunt for a new grill and I can't imagine how much that must be. I've only been using it for 4 years so I'm surprised.

I love my new cooktop! I wish I had a little more control of flame on the low side. It is a little difficult to get a really nice low flame even on melt and simmer.
