I had to have my first one replace immediatley within a week of installing - the door would not open. The button would release but door would stay jammed. The installer replaced it within a couple of weeks and this one works fine.

I think your use and guide is poorly written, go into detaily poorly, example microwave cooking power should state kee in cooking time then kee the desired power level. that is just one example. Door is hard to open, very noisy to close. I have cooked with Microwave for years, I am learing these features, Soup dose good, frozen entree and dinner plate cooks to long and dry out the food, I think yoou should have a keep warm feature, I use the time defrost to keep food warm, Iam sure I will get it down before long. thanks for giving me a chance to express my opinion. I dont know how to rate Innovation, I have nothing to compair it too. I think it is a little over priced, I wanted to get a whirlpool the same features and a little cheeper, over all I think it is a excelent Microwave and I would highly recommend to my friends an Neghbors, altho it is a counter top I have it built in, and it looks great, very rich looking.

Not as good as an older model

I replaced a KitchenAid microwave that I purchased in 2003 with this microwave. It is much more cheaply made than the 2003 model year. It makes a hollow metal sound when you shut the door. The digital buttons are very hard to push and the button that opens the door is nearly impossible to push. It literally takes me two hands to open - one on top of the microwave to keep it in place and the other hand to push on the button. I have also noticed after using the microwave for a couple of months that the cook time is very inconsistent. I can cook the same item, same quantity, multiple times and one time the food is burned, and the next it is cooked perfectly. I'm not very happy with it - loved the old one which is still in use in another area of my home. I'm disappointed that KitchenAid has gone a cheaper route with their products.

I like my KA micro. I bought this for our new home because it was the only one that would fit in the space I had. We purchased a new home that had other brand apps, so we got an app credit to replace them with KA. I had a KA over the range version at our previous home and I loved it! I only gave 4 stars because they should use the same silver bar like they use in the other appliances in order to keep the look the same. This micro is mounted under the cabinet with a trim kit. Also, my OTR KA micro had a wonderful melt/soften button that this one lacks. I paid as much or more for this countertop micro, why doesn't it have the same or more features?

Fire hazard right after warranty expired

I loved it, until I didn't. We remodeled our kitchen and wanted matching appliances. Bought in December 2017, wasn't delivered until January 2018, so have only been using for a touch over a year. Of course the warranty is only a year. Now it sparks inside and makes a horrible sound. Very angry that we spent that much for a microwave and trim for it to be sitting there, not safe to use. Sad that I still have a old generic one that works, and this one doesn't. Not the quality I expected.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Profoundly disappointed 2/8/2019

Bought over $10,000 of appliances from KitchenAid to update our kitchen. All are still under warranty. Have already reported ongoing issues with the Oven. The Oven has not worked properly since we received it. Now we are dealing with the Microwave, which is a countertop with trim kit installed in a cabinet, i.e., a built-in. The light went out in the Microwave after just a few months. It is not possible to just replace the light bulb. KitchenAid completely replaces the Microwave and trim kit (extremely poor design and hugely wasteful – is someone getting used parts in their original Microwave?). They use J.B. Hunt Final Mile for the customer interface. Today we received an email from J.B. Hunt ready to deliver. HOWEVER, the J.B. Hunt notice shows that KitchenAid sent the wrong Microwave. J.B. Hunt has the GSS model (Stainless Steel) instead of our model, the GBS model (Black Stainless). I got online for a quick live chat with KitchenAid for resolution and the agent said they could not resolve it online. The agent gave me a phone number to call. The call was finally answered after 40 minutes on hold. The line provides no updates of status, no call back service, no advisements about how much longer the wait will be. This is what I refer to as part of the HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service at KitchenAid. Another embarrassment, this one to my engineering education, is that KitchenAid engineers have designed a product where a light bulb cannot easily be replaced, causing complete replacement of the unit. Sort of fine while the unit is under warranty, but what about three years from now? Then the customer either microwaves in the dark or gets to spend another $600-$700 for a replacement unit. This saying nothing about how wasteful this is. Now I learn that the agent at the phone number I was given cannot fix this. So, she must refer it to another group at KitchenAid and they will work the issue. She says she will call me when the order is fixed. When that will be is anyone's guess. All this even though the appliances had been warranty registered with the model number and serial numbers and in KitchenAid's system. Something is desperately wrong in the design and implementation of customer service at KitchenAid. It is not the customer contact agents with which one communicates, they are very pleasant and helpful within the confines of a lousy system. And they patiently listen to customers like me express our profound disappointment in KitchenAid, a brand once known for its quality and service. The issue is in the design and implementation of the customer service system and that is a management problem. This issue is owned by the customer service managers and executives at KitchenAid, and Whirlpool, and it may be time to replace that entire group.

This microwave has all the features you could want. You can cook by setting the time or simply choose one of the options such as frozen vegetables, potato, soup, or timed defrost. It is easy to add an extra 30 seconds while cooking by touching the keypad. A handy chart provides a general guide for the suggested cooking power of specific foods such as 70% power for reheating a single serving of food or 20% for softening butter or cream cheese. Since purchasing this microwave, I find that I use it more often than in the past to cook foods I used to cook on the stove or in the oven.

Need Help!

Need a Microwave 11/18/2018

Renovated 105 year old house. Bought all KitchenAid black stainless appliances. Project took 8 mos. By the time we set appliances in place, noticed this microwave appeared to have been dropped on its corner. Beverage cooler also has a bent side, but it's usable. I realize it is over the one month damage warranty. Would just like to buy another for the same price I paid. Or can it be repaired? Is that too much to ask??

Oly one issue

why? 8/22/2018

Happy with the microwave but the button to open the door does not work consistently. Have to press it at least five times to get it to activate. Very tiresome.

So far this microwave has worked fine. I find the door difficult to open as you have to press really hard on the button. The keypad requires quite a bit of pressure as well, unlike my previous KitchenAid microwave. I'm not at all happy with the color. I thought that black stainless steel was going to be regular black but instead it looks like a very dark bronze color. I think the color should be renamed to avoid confusion. I don't generally like to do reviews of a product until I have had it for some time to see if it holds up. But KitchenAid has now sent me to nag-mails about it so here it is.

fast heating microwave

We had this installed above our new Kitchenaid wall oven using the built-in trim kit. The clerk recommended this style because the door opens to the side instead of being hinged on the bottom as the other models. We are happy with it and how fast it heats water. We also purchased the Kitchenaid Induction cooktop and are happy with all three items.

We purchase the stainless steel built-in trim kit with our Microwave and it looks very sleek with the stainless finish. It's not a huge microwave but perfect for our needs, heating coffee, cooking bacon, and defrosting.

More button pushes are necessary than my previous microwaves. For example, you can't change power level after you hit the 30 sec button. The microwave cooks fine.
