High expectations, low performancce

We bought this unit based on Maytag's reputation and previous ownership. The last Maytag we had lasted 20+ years. Unfortunately, this unit hasn't lasted 4 years. We started having problems 3 years into the purchase. The belts started squealing and a thumping and clacking. We also bought the matching washer with the same results during the wash cycle there is a loud grinding sound. the appliance man said that it was the bearings. how sad. One issue I could understand, but, both appliances unacceptable. We paid over $1400 for the pair, how sad.

I bought this to replace a 10 year old Maytag that had given good service, but was worn out. It sounds silly, but this dryer makes it fun to dry clothes. I love the chimes when it starts up, and the tones when a load is done, so much better than the buzzzer on my old machine. I love the sensed drying with the the digital minute countdown, it adjusts as the clothes dry, so you know how long until the load will be done. All my clothes come out dry , but never hot, this dryer is gentle on clothes.

For the most part I am very pleased with this dryer. I think I still need to learn more about the settings. Sometimes the items are not as dry as I would like. It is a large drum but a little low so if you have problems bending or are short, reaching all the way to the back may be a problem. It is quiet and I do like the variety of settings. Have been pleased with drying things I don't want to shrink. Also, like that it will keep tumbling to prevent wrinkling if I am busy and can't get there when it is done.

Dries clothes without wrinkles

Sensor dry works well. When I had a mixed load with my old non Maytag dryer it usually shut off before the heavier items were dry. I have found the wrinkle prevention to work very well. I was concerned that the powder coat interior would not hold up, but so far drying jeans has not scratched the interior. I paid much more for my old dryer because the interior was not painted.

I bought this as a set, and although I'm pleased with the washer, I'm unsatisfied with the dryer. Most of the loads come out still damp no matter how many times I've changed the settings. And then randomly some loads over dry and I have to physically power it off or it would keep going all day it seems. I'm going to give it another month, but if this continues ill have to return.

I bought this dryer for its capacity and price. I replaced a 8 year old dryer that stopped working. I expected this to be a good dryer but it's better than I thought. My towels were dry in the Eco cycle of 38 mins. It used to take me 60. I love all the options I have without them being so many that it is overwhelming. The panel is clear and nicely laid out. It's also quieter than my old one. Very solid buy and I am very glad I purchased it.

Had a prior Maytag dryer for 20 years. I am still adjusting the learning these settings, clothes still come out damper than expected on some settings. Love being able to see into the dryer and won't likely forget a load is in there. Nice imrovemnt from my prior dryer. Why they slope the top of the dryer is a mystery to me, laundry baskets don't stay up there well and this is a design flaw that should be corrected.

I like this dryer it is pretty quiet. I have found that sometimes it can take two cycles to get everything completely dry even running it on hot and for an hour. The other glitch is if you want to switch what side the door opens from it can be a lengthy process and don't try doing it without the instructions.

So far this is has proven to be one of the best appliance purchases we've made. My wife did a lot of research and we concluded that we wanted to stay far away from the new front-load designs, and decided that our money would be better spent on getting a full featured "traditional" washer and dryer set.This dryer has plenty of settings, easily accessible filter and drum, and looks great with the rectangular glass door.Our only complaint was that the delivery/installation service was subpar (they initially installed the hot/cold hoses reversed, and didn't notice that the vent tubing wasn't properly connected to the dryer until I pointed it out), and the dryer was damaged (big dent in the front lower panel, though mechanically the machine is fine).

This dryer has been wonderful. Unlike our last dryer, this gets the load dry the first time with the exception of a couple of times where I overloaded it. The sensor works great and dries so much faster than what we had before.

I do not like the fact that it doesmy dry clothes all the way. We have to do 2 cycles and it is very time consuming.
