Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

TINY and badly designed

Cassandra2 10/12/2018

We bought this dishwasher at the big home-improvement store that is not the orange one. That store will not post this review. We purchased this dishwasher because of three features strongly recommended by multiple repairmen: 1. Stainless steel interior, for noise and odor control. 2. Controls on the front panel rather than the top of the door. The repairmen stated that electronic controls can be damaged by heat and dampness escaping at the top. 3. Vent on the front rather than the side of the door. Again, according to the repairmen, heat and steam from side vents can damage adjacent wooden cabinets, causing mold and rot. It is very difficult to find all of these features (and a white exterior, which our kitchen required), so we ordered this dishwasher even though the store did not have a floor model we could look at. BIG mistake. We would never buy this again. Although it seems to be a standard size and fits in the same opening as our previous machine, the interior is TINY. The capacity is at least 30% less than the old one. Nothing is adjustable -- the top rack is not movable, none of the prongs fold down, the "cup racks" do not fold down low enough to accept any but the smallest cups or juice glasses. The arrangement of prongs on the bottom rack is irregular, breaking up the space into odd shapes. The silverware basket takes up a lot of room even with the extra sections removed. Moreover, there is no prong-free space wide enough to allow a platter or a shallow casserole (say, a serving bowl or 2-inch deep pyrex oblong baking dish) to sit upright--they have to be angled over several rows of prongs, taking up a great deal of the limited space. The prongs are so close together that even plates with a raised rim barely fit, and you have to bend the prongs back to keep the plates from tipping over. I could go on. This is not a cheap $300 dishwasher. It is outrageous that it is so poorly designed. Be aware that the photo of a dishwasher interior shown on this listing is NOT the interior of this model. The dishwasher does clean well. The noise level is neither excessive nor impressively quiet. It does have the three features listed above, which is the only reason for giving it two stars. I do not recommend this machine. We've only had it about a month--after waiting several weeks for delivery--but I would replace it if I could. Maybe a 1 or 2 person household who don't cook much or entertain would find it satisfactory.

Terrible Motor Performance

Stacie6 9/3/2018

We bought this dishwasher 2 years ago. We read reviews and it was highly recommended. We were willing to spend a bit more to have a quality dishwasher. We have since had to have the motor replaced on THREE separate occasions. Conveniently, it was under warranty the first two times but since that time we have had to spend in the area of $400 for repairs. One of our repairmen stated that this seems to be a general problem with this dishwasher....the motors consistently go out. Please DO NOT buy this dishwasher unless you love doing dishes by hand while you wait for the repairman to schedule you in!

Disappointed

Avoid 2/6/2018

Had to buy this smaller dishwasher. Only comes with stainless interior so was more expensive than I anticipated. Racks feel flimsy and area for silverware will not hold large spoons, spatulas etc. I would not buy again.

Want my old Whirlpool back!

Bae1 1/23/2018

It is ok but not as big as my old one plus I like the silverware holder on the door. This holder takes up too much room. Also the bottom rack does not push in smoothly. I would not buy it again.
